10/05/2025

Barony Campus, Cumnock – Saturday, May 10, 2025

Cumnock Juniors U14 Girls faced a formidable Glenburn side at the Barony Campus today, falling to a 6-1 defeat in a spirited home performance. Ending a run of 35 games undefeated at home for some of our U14's.

Glenburn started strongly, opening the scoring with a well-taken free kick in just the 6th minute. Despite some resilient defending from Cumnock, the visitors doubled their lead in the 28th minute with a powerful shot from outside the box.

Just after the break, Glenburn capitalised on two set pieces in quick succession—finding the net from corners in both the 43rd and 45th minutes to take a commanding 4-0 lead.

Cumnock showed determination in the second half and were rewarded in the 52nd minute when Fallon stepped up and delivered a brilliant free kick, pulling one back for the home side.

However, Glenburn’s attacking pressure continued, with two more goals coming in the 66th and 69th minutes, both from well-placed shots that sealed the result.

Despite the scoreline, there were encouraging signs from the Cumnock side, who showed grit and moments of quality throughout the match. Fallon’s goal stood out as a highlight, and the team will be looking to build on their efforts in the games to come.

Coach and supporters praised the girls for their hard work and team spirit against a very well-drilled Glenburn outfit.
